About the Course

This course is the seventh course in the Google Data Analytics Certificate. In this course, you’ll learn about the programming language known as R. You’ll find out how to use RStudio, the environment that allows you to work with R, and the software applications and tools that are unique to R, such as R packages. You’ll discover how R lets you clean, organize, analyze, visualize, and report data in new and more powerful ways. Current Google data analysts will continue to instruct and provide you with hands-on ways to accomplish common data analyst tasks with the best tools and resources. Learners who complete this certificate program will be equipped to apply for introductory-level jobs as data analysts. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, learners will: - Examine the benefits of using the R programming language. - Discover how to use RStudio to apply R to your analysis. - Explore the fundamental concepts associated with programming in R. - Understand the contents and components of R packages including the Tidyverse package. - Gain an understanding of dataframes and their use in R. - Discover the options for generating visualizations in R. - Learn about R Markdown for documenting R programming....

Carrie's enthusiam for R was contagious. She provides clear and easy to understand explanations, and she is pleasant to listen to. It was easy to follow up. I am myself an R enthusiast now. Thank you!

I didn't care for this course - lot of syntax - lot of third party application use. Most employers will not allow you to download, much less install anything on a work machine. This kind of negates the purpose of this training, and doesn't give you the full value of the course. I will not be taking any further analytics courses after this certification is completed, as my personal experience was pretty awful with this module. I would love to take the other certifications, but I don't see a value or benefit added to me besides stress and frustration.

I don't see any point in making us memorize syntax, or be tested on syntax ever for any reason. The videos are not reviewable, if you click anywhere on the screen or on the text it restarts the entire video - no review. I would prefer text with visuals that go over what the video does, as I don't care to watch these videos. Also the text portion is almost impossible to read as they are just huge paragraphs with no spacing in between. Remember - don't click the video text - you'll just get super frustrated. Good luck - you'll need it.

Compared to the project management certificate offered by Google - I would give this a 2/10 compared to the 8/10 for the Project certification. It is built a lot better, can skip and review in the videos, and it seemed to be more geared towards actual project management.

This instructor is very hard to follow and the course lacks organization. It would be much more helpful if certain steps weren't skipped, the activities were in a reading rather than uploaded into R studio with tiny text, and the course had some actual organization to it. If I look at my notes compared to the other courses, its only full of definitions and not helpful tips or instructions. There needs to be more explanation of the R studio when introducing new concepts; as a newbie, its very confusing when we talk about loading and installing things and they appear in different sections of R studio. It is also very frustrating when we have activities on a new concept that isn't explained until a later module. Compared to all of the other courses in this specialization, this course is the most difficult and its because of the way that the information is presented.

Not the best structured class from the Google Data Analytics classes. There is a lot of back and forth in the videos and R programming isn't an easy and intuitive program for beginners so, overall it can be frustrating.

For example, instead of listing verbally while giving long explanations on how to build a plot with ggplot2 with long examples( which makes it hard for the students to keep focus on what the steps are ) then show the list of steps in the end, why not show the list first and describe what each steps do with examples?

I find this course to be the worst so far. All other courses in this certificate were very good but I find this one to be very long winded with lots of information dumped at once, but at the same time many topics repeated. Too many packages are introduced, this course should stick to base R or just the Tidyverse core packages. Far too much information compared to the other courses.

This course does not appear as beginner-friendly as the previous courses. The activities in week 5 lack a clear structure to follow and assumptions are made. Lastly, the presenter at times breaks out in laughter randomly which makes you feel she is distracted by others in the room. It's a shame because so far the courses have been fairly good.

Worst in this series. The instructor was good however the buggy platform and way the material was presented have left me not wanting to see R programming ever again. Will likely change my mind on that but not before being convinced it's better than ways to do this.

The course was rather average in my judgement. It was to foucsed on defentions and not enough on the data syntax.

Also the course did not to a good job on layering the learning on top of which was learned in the past videos. P.S please a little less P.C culture.

I was not a fan of this instruction on this course topic compared to the other topics. I found it very difficult to follow along and could have used more hands on instruction on the basics instead of jumping around to other topics.

Wery small amount of tasks. The task which are given are very simple like copy code from here and paste here. Some important analytics concepts like standard deviation or mean are not explained properly

This course needs work. There's missing files, the video often moves too fast, functions and syntax in lines of code without explanation as to what their significance is or when they should be used

I feel the excercises are too easy for you to really get the knowledge to stick. I would prefer ot have coding assigments more similar to the questions from they have for the course wrap up.

It was a very hard and complicated course with lots of errors but by God's grace, I made it. I need to exercise and learn more about R Programming.

Thank you

Hits the ground running with R. Running very fast. Almost seemed to be skipping important steps, and/or not spending enough time on mechanics

R programming is one of the most complicated platform in data analytics ever. Sharp mind and focus is required for practicing tools in it.

This is NOT Google's fault. But the forum blew up because of Coursera's decision to stagger start times for the course. I am trying to fast track this, and the fact that I have to wait now is unbelievable. There was NO warning, no mention that this would happen - it was just imposed on us arbitrarily.

Why this is a bad policy is because most don't complete purely self directed courses. Completion of these courses is largely determined by a participants' levels of motivation. Their motivation fluctuates across time.

By restricting when people can progress, this makes it harder for the motivated to complete the course. Sometimes, you get "in the zone" and are able to learn the material quickly thanks to Google's excellent course content. But, this is contingent on the motivated being able to take on more work during periods of high motivation. Blocking access to classes and forcing people to wait for an arbitrary time only serves to frustrate people and hamper the motivated.

Sorry Google, this class is great but this BS policy is horrible!

I thought this course was pretty good in the beginning. However, turns out the cloud based platform they teach you on has a time limit. So, after starting my capstone project using R, I was cut off from using it. I tried to move to the desktop version of R and it is nothing like the cloud based platform. I feel like I learned nothing and would not be able to tell an employer that I know how to use R.
